Ricky's NYC has made their very own beauty subscription box: Cult Crushes. This box retails for $11 a month and it gives you the chance to test out some of their most popular brands and products – both classic and new. Once you register for the box, you become a VIP member of their beauty cult – and anytime you order online, you will receive 10% off and receive free shipping on purchases of $50 or more (more perks).
The Ricky's team sent over a box for me to feature and review for you guys so let's unbox it and see how everything performs (video + photos of course).
This month's box is created with 5 products to help us achieve the perfect lip - more like the perfect red lip to me.
Step 1: Jean Pierre Collagen Lip Mask
This is a moisturizing lip mask with collagen that is designed to bring back the plump and dewy look to your lips. It is infused with lip-plumping collagen, vitamins and minerals to promote softer, smoother lips with rapid results. The box contains 5 masks, .13 oz. each (.65 total oz.). I don't know why I never thought about using a lip mask before - I'm a sucker for good skincare and with the amount that I change lipstick colors - this was the best thing in the box for me. They recommend leaving it on for 15 minutes so it can really moisturize your lips.
Step 2: Grande Lips Collagen Boosting Plumper
This is an instant lip formula that is Infused with Volulip and hyaluronic acid that is supposed to instantly improve your lip volume in three to five minutes and add a pop of lip-boosting color while hydrating dry areas. Its a clinically proven formula that will increase overall lip hydration, volume, softness, and firmness in just 30 days of usage when applied twice daily.
Please be aware that there is a strong fragrance to it (it reminds me of coconut) and there will be a tingling sensation that you feel after application—that’s how you know GrandeLIPS is working its magic. For me, I didn't see much of a difference plump wise, but let's be honest, I do have full lips already so it's kind of like ehh/ how much more plump can they get without looking like a baseball hit me in the mouth? I do like the tingling feeling and how moisturizing it is on my lips.
Bomb. I haven't tried anything by L.A. Girl that I haven't liked yet. This lip pencil is a semi-permanent formula that is waterproof and smudge proof for all day wear. It applies creamy & smooth and has added vitamin E in it to condition the lips. I like how lightweight it is for how pigmented it is. You can wear it as a base for another lipstick or on its own as a lip color or lip tint.
Inspired by the greatest city in the world, each Pop of Color liquid lipstick applies a bit glossy and then dries to a rich and velvety finish that leaves your lips with a vibrant lip color that is way too comfortable to really be calling it a matte liquid lipstick. This line is vegan and cruelty-free.
Step 5: RickyCare G-Tips
These are super pointed q-tips that are great for cleaning up your edges or wing liner.
Availability: You can register for the Cult Crushes box online here for $11 a month. So what do you beauties think? Are you ready for the #CametoCrush box?

One thing that I want to talk about more on here is more affordable products whether it be fashion, skin care or beauty related. So I was thrilled when I received the new Burt's Bees BB Cream from Ricky's NYC to add to our foundation review series.Somewhere between a lightweight foundation and a moisturizing face lotion, Burt's Bees has released a new BB Cream with Noni Extract and SPF 15 that is designed to simplify your morning routine into one easy step. It offers 9 clinically shown face care benefits that are available in 3 mineral-rich shades - Light, Light/Medium and Medium (shown more below).
The formula was designed with natural ingredients, like antioxidant-rich Noni extract to moisturize your face to leave it feeling soft and supple. It doesn't contain any parabens, phthalates, petrolatum or SLS - basically all natural - about 98.9% natural. The SPF 15 will protect your skin from UV damage, while the mineral pigments provide sheer and lightweight coverage - basically making this perfect to wear in the Summer or in very humid climates.
Now onto the live swatches. I swatched and wore all three of the colors for this review.
Here is the video which shows how the product swatches and wears live.
It does have a distinct citrusy aroma to it so if you're sensitive to smells than I would suggest looking for a different kind of tinted moisturizer or at least picking up a sample of this before making the full purchase. I really wish that Burt's Bees would have created and released a wider shade range when they developed this. If you're lucky enough to find a shade from these three that suits you then I definitely recommend giving it a go. Make sure that you apply the product lightly and build it up if you need to. Also, be sure to give the color a few minutes to warm up and settle into your skin.
Overall, I love the idea behind this product, however, I am a little bit dissapointed in the color range as there isn't an shade that has my undertone. Hopefully, there will be additional shades added to this product as the beauty portion of the brand develops.
You can get these from Ricky's NYC for $14.99.
"Bright and bold. A comfortable liquid matte lipstick. Vegan and cruelty free." These are the three things that drew me into the Pop of Color by Kristen Taekman Liquid Matte Lipstick line.
Last year, you followed me on Instagram as we visited Ricky's NYC for a special preview of the Kristen Taekman nail polish line so it's no surprise that the launch of these colorful liquid lipsticks would be next on their radar. Colors from left to right: Change of Habit, Reconsider Baby, A Little Less Conversation, Rags to Riches, Kiss Me Quick, It's Now or Never!
Inspired by the greatest city in the world, each Pop of Color liquid lipstick applies a bit glossy and then dries to a rich and velvety finish that leaves your lips with a vibrant lip color that is way too comfortable to really be calling it a matte liquid lipstick.
All of these applied onto my lips with such a breeze. I was able to layer these liquid lipsticks and I had to do so with the brighter neon colors (the bright pink and orange) for true color payoff and coverage. Please keep in mind that the doe foot applicator was a little bit smaller than most brands so I had to dip it back into the tube a few times in order to get enough to cover my lips.
You can buy these in-store at Rickys NYC or online here for $14.99 each.
"I know when that highlight bling, that can only mean one thing. Yeah, I know when that highlight bling, that can only mean one thing." Ah, Drake really hit this one on the head when he made this song and no, I didn't make a mistake by singing when that highlight bling! Only my true highlighter girls will understand this one. ;-) Last week, I was shopping on RickysNYC.com and I was trying to figure out what I wanted to use my $100 gift certificate on (remember the one that we ordered from Gilt - it was $60 for a $100 gift card). Of course, I picked out a few new items for my hair and a few new setting powders but the major purpose for my order was to get the new Artist Couture Broadway Diamond Glow Powder Highlighter. I saw the light pink iridescence glow in full force at a press event but for those of you who aren't able to visit a Ricky's to swatch it in person anytime soon, I wanted you guys to be able to at least see quality swatches of it on a woman of color. Just when we thought the beauty deals were over Ricky's NYC decides to smack us in the face with one! Ricky's has just launched an amazing deal on Gilt City today which will give you an incredible discount that you can use in-store or online.
So basically you can choose an online OR in-store credit on Gilt City that will get you either a $50 credit for $30, or a $100 credit for $60. That means that when you go to Ricky's NYC to purchase $50 worth of products, you'll only actually be paying pay $30, or when you buy $100 worth of products, you'll only be paying $60 since you have this credit. Make sense right? The credit will expire on 3/9/16 so you have plenty of time to shop for the holidays or Valentine's Day.
Now why is this a big deal? Well Ricky's is notorious for carrying the most popular beauty brands. You can pick up some of your favorite items from Morphe, Sugarpill, Violet Voss, Coloured Raine, NYX, LA Girl Cosmetics and much more. Let me know what you get! I already checked out for the $100 one.
